A Visual Success
I think this a great and comical commercial! The message is crystal clear. It simply implies it is better to be anything else other than a Red Sox fan.
Dads are suppose to be supportive with their sons no matter what. In the video the dad is explaining his feelings about his younger son. He wishes his son could be more like his older son who happens to be very flamboyant; something most dad would dread. Not this dad, as a true Yankees fan, he knows it's far worst to be a Red Sox fan.
A Visual Miscue
I also find this commercial to be humorous but, this video is implying that Yankees fans don't like Red Sox fans and don't want to work with them. I don't believe is to be true at all. I work with three Red Sox fans and have nothing against them, why would I, we have twenty more World Series! On the contrary, no Boston fan has ever gotten pick-on in New York City quite as much as Yankees fans do out there in Boston. Not only have I witnessed it first hand but many others have seen this also and agree 100% with me. So with that being said, I believe this commercial is backwards and therefore miscued.

Recommendation for all baseball fans
Feeling upset, disappointed in your MLB team? Are you frustrated with your team's performance this season. If you feel your team has let you down yet another season, now would be the time to convert into a Yankees fan. Congratulations to the New York Yankees for the 27th World Series
This e-mail was sent to rhalsey@yankees.com
My name is Maribel Burgos and I am a life-long die-hard Yankees fan. I am currently taking a Business Communications class at BMCC. As an assignment, I was asked to write a letter congratulating this team for winning it's 40Th American League Championship Pennant as well as winning your 27Th World Series. It is a great honor and privilege to be considered a Yankees fan and be part of the greatest team in Major League Baseball.
I only hope this team will continues to strive for excellence, like their performance this year.
If there is in any way possible for someone to reply to this e-mail at their earliest convenience, it would be greatly appreciated.
Sincerely, your biggest fan,
Maribel Burgos

The Different Types of Visual Presentation That Best Represent the Yankees
The New York Yankees, like most Major League Baseball teams, have all different types of visual presentations. For example, there are hundreds of websites including the Yankees official website, dedicated to this team.
How Visual Evolution Has Affected the Yankees
Thanks to new technology, baseball fans can watch their favorite team play anywhere they want, at the beach or even at work. Many teams like the Yankees have come up with a new system that allows fans to watch game live through their desktop or laptop for a small charge. This will allow fans to keep track of their teams no matter where they go. This is a win win situation for both parties, the company generates more money while fans can watch the game anywhere.
Another form of visual evolution affected by the Yankees is the huge screen TV that was specially made for the Yankees new stadium. This TV was built before the stadium and so that the seating arrangements could be built around this massive screen, to assure the best visuals options for the sitting fans at the field. There are also electronic banners built all over the stadium so fans can see the scores no matter where they look.

My Opinion of This Situation
As a die-hard Yankees fan, I could not agree more with Steinbrenner. The truth is Joe Torre lost his fire. Now don't get me wrong, I appreciate all he did in the 90's but after the Subway Series in 2000, he seemed to not care as much as he once did. From what I had witness during the games, Torre was not contributing the same motivation and management as he did in the previous years. For example, in 2007 when the Yankees were playing against the Indians, there was a infestation of flying ants in the mound while Joba Chainberland was pitching. This was a important game for us and we blew it. Mainly because Torre did not speak up and ask for time-out when his pitcher clearly needed it. We ended up losing that game and also losing our spot in the Play-offs. That was the first time in 13 years that the Yankees did not get that far.
In my opinion, firing Joe Torre was heaven sent.

Problem Within the Yankees--November Post
The Yankees had a bad year in 2007, it was the first time since 1994 that the Yankees did not win the ALDS. As you can imagine, George Steinbrenner was furious. Can you blame him? This company sends hundreds of millions each year to help the team make it at least that far, if not win the World Series and all it's entirely.
Here is a link to a websites that addresses this problem,http://www.nytimes.com/2007/10/30/sports/baseball/30yankees.html
In this web page, it explains what Steinbrenner did to correct the problem at hand. Besides trading some of the players who did not contribute as much as they should have, Steinbreener also fired Joe Torre. He then hired Joe Girardi as the new Yankee's manager. Girardi chose the #27 for his jersey, as a symbol of what he was going to help accomplish. And what happened this year? Yankees won their 27Th W.S. of course!

Writing A Business Message
When writing a business message there are a few step needed to take in order to get the point across clearly. For starters, it is extremely important to keep good language. In other words, do not use any curse words or anything that can be considered disrespectful. Second, avoid using obsolete phrases, such as any groups of words that might be considered intimate. Third, be careful not use humor or there is a possibility that your presentation may not by taken seriously. Last, use a conversational tone. By maintaining this form of tone you are sending a message of professionalism. If you speak with an informal tone, you are sending a message of friendship instead of a professional working environment.

Comparison of the "Pursuader" and the Yankees company
In the second segment, "Emotion Branding" the people explain the relationship between consumers and brands. They talk about how the 1990's changed the way we sell products as well as how we view them as a consumer. They also saw a resemblance between cults and cult brands, like Harley Davidson.
The New York Yankees are no exception to this new wave of advertising. The Yankees take pride in having the most World Series. That has become their main source of advertising. Having the most championships and pennants makes it easier to get the audience attention. It gives the fans a sense of superiority over the other teams and effortlessly draws a bigger crowd. It's what the segment called " moving brands into experience". This is trying to create loyalty beyond reason. This is a way of turning a brand into a culture for the benefit of the company.

The Progress of My Presentation
So far I'm about half way through preparing my presentation. My proposal is based on lowing ticket prices at the New Yankee Stadium.
The first slide is the Yankees Logo with the title.
The second is a chart of the Yankees financial breakdown.(showing the four financial aspects of revenue; Sport, Brand Management, Market and Stadium, in pie form) according to Forbes Magazine.
The third is a picture of Yankees Stadium. (signifying the financial aspect I want to focus on)
The fourth a chart is the statistics of the different groups who go to the ballgames.(in pie form)
The fifth is a family at the stadium (signifying wholesome family entertainment, also, families being the highest customers)
The sixth is descriptions the seating arrangements and the profit it has created so far this year at the new stadium.
The seventh is the comparison of the difference in revenue from past years at the old stadium.
The eighth is the seating proposition for next year.
The ninth is "My alliterative proposal" and the revenue it will create next year and the years to come.
The tenth will be a chart showing the difference in revenue between the three; this year, next years and what I have in mind. This will prove how my proposal is the better choice.

Finding, Evaluating, and Processing Information
Communicating in Teams and Mastering Listening and Nonverbal Communication Skills
As you may already know Professional Baseball, also known as Major League Baseball, is formed into a total of thirty teams divided into two Leagues, fourteen in the American League and sixteen in the National League.
Communication within each team is crucial, both verbal as well as nonverbal. Listening to each other is just as important. How these players inner-act and understand one another will dramatically affect the games outcome. One false move or miscommunication can cost any team to give up a run or perhaps even cause the lose of the game.
Mastering listening consist of giving the speaker your undivided attention while still observing your surroundings, this takes some practice but must be mastered to achieve maxim affect of teamwork.
Some forms of nonverbal communication skills are the signs the teammates give one another. For example, when the pitcher and catcher need to communicate, the catcher would give different signs signifying what pitch to throw next, keeping the batter questioning the next pitch. Another form of nonverbal communication is the signs the base coaches give the runners on base, informing them what is happening on the field, whether it's signaling them to run or remain on that base.

A Message About the Yankees
Do you love Baseball? If so then take the time to read this message.
This is the best time of year to become a New York Yankees fan. The Yankees are just a few games away from winning their 27Th World Series. This phenomenal team is celebrating their victory for sweeping the Red Sox and winning the East Division title; now they're on their way to the play-offs to hopefully win their 27Th title as World Champions. The Yankees have just won hundreds games this season, an achievement many great teams never get to accomplish. With such amazing hitters like Derek Jeter, Mike Teixeria, Johnny Damon, Hideki Matsui and my personal favorite Alex Rodriguez, it's a perfect combination of success. Also, with great pitchers like C.C. Sabathia, A.J. Burnett, Andy Pettitte and my favorite closer, Mariano Rivera, the Yankees are determine to finish this season in first place as well as take home their 27Th World Series. Keep in mind, the St. Louis Cardinals lead in second place with only 11 W.S. That's quite a jump from 26 to 11! So if you want to be part of the winning team; the biggest and most famous franchise, now would be the time to show your Yankees Pride!
Let's go Yankees!

Writing a Business Message
Communicating in a World of Diversity
Enhancing Presentation with Slides and Other Visuals
Appearance is crucial when maintaining a business. For the Yankees clubhouse, there's no exceptions. When you enter Yankees stadium, the first thing you notice is this huge Projection TV on the left displaying the game. This was put there for a specific reason. It is a way to advertise the game so that the spectators outside can get a full view of the field and players. This was set up to intrigue the crowd outside to buy tickets and join the fun.
Another important viewing aspect for the Yankees ballpark is the Monument Park, which was built to commemorate some of their best players. It contains the monuments of five baseball icons - Miller Huggins, Babe Ruth, Lou Gehrig, Joe DiMaggio and Mickey Mantle. There are also 20 plaques that recognize the careers of 20 pinstriped legends, including Yogi Berra, Whitey Ford, Elston Howard, Reggie Jackson and Don Mattingly. This was built so the fans can honor those who played with the pinstripe and contributed to this teams success.
Electrical stripes are displayed all over the stadium to help the fans keep track of the score.
Everything I mentioned in this essay are different forms of enhancement to help the vistors and fans keep track of what is going on, as well as what has happened within this ballpark/team.

Persuasive Business Message.
There are many similarities between writing a persuasive message and writing a business persuasive message, both need you to identify the seven ways to establish your credibility, but a business message must also have the AIDA model:
Attention- get the audiences attention
Interest- explain what you are offering
Desire- Explain how this will benefit the audience
Action- Explain the suggestions you plan to take
There are both emotional and logical appeals to consider when making a message, you want to have a balance of the two the get the point across clearly.
Also, there are things you would want to avoid when relaying a message.
1.Avoid generalizing
2.Avoid repeating your facts too many times
3.Avoid attacking your opponent.
4. Avoid oversimplifying a problem
5.Avoid assuming any cause and effect
6.Avoid faulty analogies
7. Avoid illogical support
Persuasive Writing
As a assignment in my Business Communication class, I had to write a persuasive letter to the Yankees in hopes of being hired. To my surprise, chapter 10 is all based on persuasive writing. It explains the three steps needed:
1. Planing your message-First, you need to find a way to convince your audience that you offer the best alternative.
I. Analyzing your situation.
II. Gather information to close the gap between the audiences emotions and beliefs with your own.
III. Select the right form of communication suitable for your message.
IV. Organize the information properly to make it the most effective.
2. Write out the message by establishing credibility.
I.Use simple language so everyone can understand.
II. Support your message with facts.
III. Identify the sources as form of proof to your facts.
IV. Be or find an expert to back up your facts.
V. Establish a common ground between you and your audience.
VI. Know all side to the issue, what you favor and what you don't.
VII. Explain your good intentions.
3. Keep full details and avoid shortcuts for maximum effect while judging your argument objectively.

Steinbrenner, Communicating to the Public
By having strict grooming policies, Steinbrenner is making a statement. He expects professionalism from all his staff, including player, coaches, and the executives. All members of this ball-park are expected to be clean-shaved. No one is permitted to wear any facial hair except for a mustache, and their hair may not be grown past the collar. This is telling the public" I have class and care about my appearance".
Another form of communication is Steinbrenner removal of names off the player's jerseys. This was done to not distract the crowd from the game. Steinbrenner wants the public to focus on the team as a whole instead of individual players. This allows the fans to pay attention to the teams progress instead of players record.
