Steinbrenner, Communicating to the Public

By having strict grooming policies, Steinbrenner is making a statement. He expects professionalism from all his staff, including player, coaches, and the executives. All members of this ball-park are expected to be clean-shaved. No one is permitted to wear any facial hair except for a mustache, and their hair may not be grown past the collar. This is telling the public" I have class and care about my appearance". Another form of communication is Steinbrenner removal of names off the player's jerseys. This was done to not distract the crowd from the game. Steinbrenner wants the public to focus on the team as a whole instead of individual players. This allows the fans to pay attention to the teams progress instead of players record.
