Relating to the Yankees

From what I gathered from chapter 1 is, communication is the key to successful company. It is not only what you say but how to say to your employees to get them to work as productively as possible. In order for the staff to take the situation seriously, one must explain the importance of resolving the problem for every ones sake. For example, Steinbrenner, the owner of the New York Yankees, has very high expectations of his team. He told the general manager, Joe Girardi, if he doesn't get the Yankees to the play-off, he will be terminated from the clubhouse, and the same goes for any Yankee player who does not live up to his full potential. Because of the obscenely high payroll, these players are expected to preform better than any other team, and they are constantly reminded of the consequences every time they mess up. Due to clear communication, all Yankee players strive for excellence, they are aware of the repercussion if they fail, for example, not getting their contact renewal and being traded to another team.
