Persuasive Writing
As a assignment in my Business Communication class, I had to write a persuasive letter to the Yankees in hopes of being hired. To my surprise, chapter 10 is all based on persuasive writing. It explains the three steps needed:
1. Planing your message-First, you need to find a way to convince your audience that you offer the best alternative.
I. Analyzing your situation.
II. Gather information to close the gap between the audiences emotions and beliefs with your own.
III. Select the right form of communication suitable for your message.
IV. Organize the information properly to make it the most effective.
2. Write out the message by establishing credibility.
I.Use simple language so everyone can understand.
II. Support your message with facts.
III. Identify the sources as form of proof to your facts.
IV. Be or find an expert to back up your facts.
V. Establish a common ground between you and your audience.
VI. Know all side to the issue, what you favor and what you don't.
VII. Explain your good intentions.
3. Keep full details and avoid shortcuts for maximum effect while judging your argument objectively.
