Problem Within the Yankees--November Post

The Yankees had a bad year in 2007, it was the first time since 1994 that the Yankees did not win the ALDS. As you can imagine, George Steinbrenner was furious. Can you blame him? This company sends hundreds of millions each year to help the team make it at least that far, if not win the World Series and all it's entirely. Besides trading some of the players who did not contribute as much as they should have, Steinbreener also fired Joe Torre. He then hired Joe Girardi as the new Yankee's manager. Girardi chose the #27 for his jersey, as a symbol of what he was going to help accomplish. And what happened this year? Yankees won their 27Th W.S. of course!

Writing A Business Message

Another important thing you should keep in mind when writing a business message is the information you send out in the paragraphs. There are three basic elements to writing a good paragraph. The first is the topic sentence. this helps the audience know what you are going to be talking about. The second element is your supporting sentences. this will show the audience the facts behind what you are stating. The last element is the transitional element. In order for your audience to keep track of the information you are giving, you should have transitional words to help the audience understand your train of thought. Also, try to repeat some words and information to remind the audience of your message. Use words that will remind your audience that will help them see your idea more clearly.

Writing A Business Message

When writing a business message there are a few step needed to take in order to get the point across clearly. For starters, it is extremely important to keep good language. In other words, do not use any curse words or anything that can be considered disrespectful. Second, avoid using obsolete phrases, such as any groups of words that might be considered intimate. Third, be careful not use humor or there is a possibility that your presentation may not by taken seriously. Last, use a conversational tone. By maintaining this form of tone you are sending a message of professionalism. If you speak with an informal tone, you are sending a message of friendship instead of a professional working environment.

Comparison of the "Pursuader" and the Yankees company

In the second segment, "Emotion Branding" the people explain the relationship between consumers and brands. They talk about how the 1990's changed the way we sell products as well as how we view them as a consumer. They also saw a resemblance between cults and cult brands, like Harley Davidson. The New York Yankees are no exception to this new wave of advertising. The Yankees take pride in having the most World Series. That has become their main source of advertising. Having the most championships and pennants makes it easier to get the audience attention. It gives the fans a sense of superiority over the other teams and effortlessly draws a bigger crowd. It's what the segment called " moving brands into experience". This is trying to create loyalty beyond reason. This is a way of turning a brand into a culture for the benefit of the company.

The Progress of My Presentation

So far I'm about half way through preparing my presentation. My proposal is based on lowing ticket prices at the New Yankee Stadium. The first slide is the Yankees Logo with the title. The second is a chart of the Yankees financial breakdown.(showing the four financial aspects of revenue; Sport, Brand Management, Market and Stadium, in pie form) according to Forbes Magazine. The third is a picture of Yankees Stadium. (signifying the financial aspect I want to focus on) The fourth a chart is the statistics of the different groups who go to the ballgames.(in pie form) The fifth is a family at the stadium (signifying wholesome family entertainment, also, families being the highest customers) The sixth is descriptions the seating arrangements and the profit it has created so far this year at the new stadium. The seventh is the comparison of the difference in revenue from past years at the old stadium. The eighth is the seating proposition for next year. The ninth is "My alliterative proposal" and the revenue it will create next year and the years to come. The tenth will be a chart showing the difference in revenue between the three; this year, next years and what I have in mind. This will prove how my proposal is the better choice.

Completing Reports and Proposals

In order to complete a report or proposal one must : Revise the message- Figure out what is the most important things you want to say, review and edit for better understanding. Produce the message- Use best design and layout for a clear professional appearance. Proofread the message- Check for mistakes in spelling layout and mechanics. Distribute the message- Make sure to deliver the documents successfully. One must also keep in mind the audiences expectations at all time. It is imperative to remember the audience will ask what is in it for them. The length of the presentation is also just as important. If the report or proposal is too long, you will lose the audiences attention. Try to keep organizational traditions to indicate what should be included in the report. Perfatory Parts contain front-end material that give key preliminary information. This allows the audience to decide how to read the report. The cover generally contains the company's name and logo. Title Fly and Title Page includes just a single sheet of paper with only the title. Letter of Authorizations and Letter Acceptance is a letter stating the right to do the report or proposal. Letter of Transmittal is a specialized form of cover letter, given to the person who authorized it.

Planning Reports and Proposals

There are a few many ways to communicate within a business. One of these forms are through reports; there are two types, Analytical and Informational reports. Informational reports are based on data, facts, feedback and things of that nature. Analytical reports consist of both analysis as well as information, which would include recommendations. Proposals are a form of persuading the audience to choose his/her options. To make a proper report one must first figure out what is the main objective: Clarify the problem or opportunity. State the purpose of the investigation. Explain the what task need to be dealt with. Describe the products that are the outcome of the investigation. Check for project assignments, schedules and resource requirements. Review the report before making a delivery. Keep the following in mind when writing a report: Understand the audiences expectations. Find the format best suited for the task. Keep the report as simple as possible. Explain your outline clearly and affectively.
